A man who made Christmas nails from Christmas trees has revealed the artistry behind the designs.
Zohar Khatib, an artist from the Jerusalem suburb of Sderot, who makes his nails from trees, said he made them using a technique that involves “cutting and shaping” the bark of the tree, before wrapping it in layers of resin.
Khatib said the idea for the nails came after a friend’s mother had lost her fingers when they were burned during the Israeli-Palestinian war of 1967.
The artist, who has created a number of Christmas designs, said the technique is similar to that used by woodworkers and is also a “very common method of creating a decorative piece of wood.”
Khatir has also said he would like to open a nail shop and sell Christmas nails.
